Seven Week Course

Life’s better with a little sparkle. Join this class as I teach you how to create your own handmade solitaire ring in silver.

Over seven weeks, you’ll learn to hand carve your own ring in wax and use a variety of melting techniques to set a special heat-tolerant crystal in place.

I’ll then send your wax ring – complete with crystal – to be transformed into silver by our specialist casting company.

Not only is this class suitable for ambitious beginners to intermediate students who want to experiment, but it’s also a fun introduction to alternative stone setting in wax.

Each student will be provided with a starter kit which includes wax, a sparkly heat-tolerant crystal, saw blades, sandpaper and more.

At the end of this course, you will have experimented with:

  • Ring sizing
  • Wax carving
  • Wax setting
  • Textures and mark making.

Casting fees are not included in your kit and are to be paid by students upon the return of their castings. The price can generally be estimated prior to casting. Depending on their weight and size, small silver rings usually average around $40 – $80, while larger rings could be $80 and up.

A small selection of silver, additional heat-tolerant crystals and other consumables will be available for purchase through the gallery if required.
